June 3rd, 1991. There is was an attack on US soil. In a routine mission the X Men were forced to battle one of their own. The mutant known to history as Phoenix’s powers were amplified to an insane level. In an eruption of her power the north east of America was left nothing more than a charred wasteland. From Maine to Pennsylvania there wasn’t a single sign of life, billions wiped out in seconds, changing the face of the world completely.
What little X Men left joined Magneto’s Brotherhood and staged a final battle with the hordes of sentinels. No Mutant survived the battle, humanity won the war against mutants.
It’s been two decades since the event; mutants are round up and placed in ‘internment camps’ where they are experimented on while a cure is developed. Sentinel’s patrol the skies rounding up mutants and killing those who resist.
But there is a hope for the mutant race. From unauthorised history books and webpages the Government can’t censor. The myth of the X Men lives on as an uprising begins. The New X Men believe that the Phoenix was a scapegoat for a larger conspiracy. Her abilities were pushed to their limit by a human made virus, and with the right evidence they plan on exposing the plot to the world. Each new mutant taking the moniker of an X Men past they pose a new threat to the Sentinel program.
But is the Government really behind this plot? Or is somebody more powerful pulling the strings for both sides? Somebody far more Sinister?
