Judah clambered through the rubbles of the town once known as Salem, he trenched through the streets charred black, past cars that were destroyed by the Phoenix’s flame. He explored the rubble of the derelict town as he crossed paths with huge ceramic coffee cup; somehow it had survived the event. The paint had be scorched off and it had been blackened but the shape remained it was certainly a coffee cup. He smiled fondly remembering the coffee from the capitol. Rich strong coffee that simply smelling would gift you with a boost of energy. He wondered if he would ever taste the coffee again, the Sanctuary had bags of freeze dried instant coffee but it just wasn’t the same. Not that he didn’t stop drinking it; after all he needed something to keep him awake during the long nights of strategizing.
While he was happy to be the teams appointed field leader it was clear that not everybody was so thrilled about the capitol boy being their leader. It was just a title really; Wolverine never listened to his orders while the rest were a rag tag group of mutants, not a day’s military training between them. Strategy had to be everything, they would never survive an all out was however guerrilla tactics were their speciality, Judah could create a fiery apparition of the Phoenix into the sky sending the people into frenzied panic while they attacked a sentinel manufacturing plant, liberated a camp or harassed a politician.
It was small steps but they were steps in the right direction. He walked further into the town, he was a few miles from the institute and to his knowledge he hadn’t been followed, however there was a shift in the weight behind him, some rocks had shifted a block away. Judah turned, a fiery aura glowed from his body, he started walking towards the noise. He clenched a fist and walked towards the noise. Maybe a scraped Sentinel, maybe a Morlock or possibly one of Mojo’s merchants. He was ready for anything as he turned the corner.

Sarah had watched as Judah left the compound quietly sneaking off into the city. She didn’t like this, not one bit. He was their leader and what would happen if he wasn’t there as she was one person who did not want to take things over. She may have acquired the minds of several soldiers over the past few months but she still didn’t like recalling on their skills because often enough their personalities were close behind to try and rear their ugly heads. It really didn’t look too good if she started shouting about how horrible mutants were if she were trying to lead them, so most of the time she kept them buried the deepest underneath a few other personalities. It was funny how her power worked though, the best way she could describe it was that it was like walking down a beach, and picking up sea shells as you go, collecting them when needed and throwing them back out when she didn’t. of course powers didn’t usually come back but nearly everything else would.
Well with Judah leaving the compound she knew she couldn’t leave him alone. What if someone came out and attacked him. Ambushed him, and he was left by himself. She knew he was strong but even one man couldn’t be his own army forever. So quickly making her way downstairs and out the front door she began to shadow the young man. They were headed deeper and deeper into what was left of that old town. It was really rather sad. If you looked at the sidewalks you could see the shadows of where people had been standing much like if an atomic bomb went off. The buildings and streets were charred beyond most recognition, and as for anything else it was mostly dust and ash.
She was using the skills of several people at the moment. Mostly just so he didn’t notice her. But then the strain began to be a little much so she quietly reverted back, and at that moment she had caused a couple of stones to tumble off a wall causing a slight amount of noise. She was so screwed. Trying to stay hidden as much as she could she pulled herself behind a wall and hoped he wouldn’t be too angry when he found her. After all she just had wanted to make sure he was okay. OUTIFT ● WORD COUNT: 401 ● SONG ● NOTES: FIRST OFFICIAL POST WOOH!

Judah burst around the corner almost ready to explode with energy but stopped as soon as he saw Sarah standing there. The warm flames that engulfed his body extinguished in seconds. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t disappointed, he would have loved to have gotten into a little skirmish the long nights of planning were making him go a little sir crazy. “Decided to come out for a little walk?” he asked accusingly, she had followed him probably just to keep an eye on him but he didn’t like that he needed a chaperone. “Lovely day isn’t it?” he said looking into the clear blue sky, he didn’t want to get hung up on the fact she had followed him; he was more embarrassed he didn’t notice it sooner. “Shame nobody else is around to appreciate it.” He said with a little laugh before taking a few steps in the direction he was walking before she alerted him.
The town was really depressing nobody had walked through it in almost two decades, He knelt over grabbing a piece of rubble before turning back to Sarah, “Did they tell you it was dangerous here?” he asked referring to No Man’s Land. “At school they said it was full of scavengers and the earth was radioactive, but really it’s just land, burnt but clean and the only people I’ve seen are people trying to get to New York to join up with the Morlocks.” He said before standing up and throwing the stone down the abandoned street. He quickly drew his finger and pointed at the rock as a direct blast of microwave energy connected with the rock, exploding it before it bounced off of the ground.
“But they said Mutants were evil and dangerous and we know how wrong that is.” He said picking up another rock and tossing it down the street, “With the exception of Wolverine, she is dangerous.”

She could feel the heat of his presence flashing before her. She knew that if he didn’t realize who it was soon she could end up like a roasted turkey and like much of the landscape around her: charred and blackened. Thankfully the heat had disappeared and instead of the feeling she assumed would be burning and death she felt a slight breeze cross her cheek. Slowly opening one eye she saw her leader standing looking down at her. He looked disappointed firstly, and then when he spoke his tone of voice was one she might suspect was anger or frustration. Her eyes now fully open she began to speak softly and quietly as if she was trying to just talk to him “Hello Juda-I er-I mean hello Sir. And yes I thought it was a nice day for a walk.” Sarah could sense he wasn’t too pleased with her following him. He probably didn’t like being watched over by others but saran didn’t have it in her heart to know he would be left alone in case there was an emergency. “It really is sir, it really is a shame no one else is out here… I bet this town was beautiful… now it is just…just rubble… like the rest of the land” as she spoke she leaned down to pick up a small stone that was charred to unrecognizable, but her eyes remained fixed on it. When his voice spoke up Sarah was still kneeling down on the ground watching her rock tumble across the street. Her head quickly whipping around to see Judah continuing his strides towards some sort of building. Quickly setting down her stone she got up to follow him. “Well sir when I um went to school it wasn’t for very long, my um father homeschooled me. But well he never did talk much of this place. I knew it existed as most of my friends would talk about it. As for if it was dangerous not really.” As he threw another rock she quietly watched it cross the street in silence causing a slight echo with each thump as it hit the ground and skidded further. She had never really been one to go outside of her home or into the city. She had always been the quiet one. The girl who was put under lock and key with every chance of escape. Yet Sarah had never really done any of that. She had wanted to stay in. she never really thought about going out either. But that all changed when she heard of that party. How much could it have hurt well… she saw the consequences. Ever since that day Sarah has shown rather determined to stay away from people and crowded places. Even with the x-men. She didn’t even know why she left their sanctuary. All she knew is that she should follow Judah. Her thoughts were soon interrupted though as he asked one further question. Or rather a statement of sorts. “Well sir… i… I don’t believe there’s any truly evil mutants… I have never personally met anyone like that. But then of course I am not the most social of people… as for dangerous…well aren’t we… I mean the first time I used my powers I destroyed a whole city block and killed nearly 53 people… I may not be evil sir… but I know that I’m dangerous.” With those final words she quickly let her hair fall in front of her face and she looked down and away. She didn’t want to remember that day right now. She just wanted to forget it all ever happened. But right now it seemed with what he said that’s all she could think about. Quickly whipping her eyes she looked back up with a calm face and spoke softly once more “and what about you Sir do you believe we aren’t dangerous?”OUTIFT ● WORD COUNT: 401 ● SONG ● NOTES: FIRST OFFICIAL POST WOOH!

Judah shook his head in a sort of disbelief, he didn’t enjoy being called Sir he had told his team countless times that it wasn’t necessary but they all continued to do it. Mostly because Mastermind seemed to find it humorous to do so, whilst Wolverine point blank refused and simply called him by his codename “You don’t need to call me Sir. I’m three years older than you. Just call me Judah” he informed her knowing it probably wouldn’t stop there.
. Judah listened as she told her story, he nodded, “Yeah Public school is full of fairy tales about this place. How it’s full of zombies and if you’re bad they send you to No Man’s Land to a secret prison for the worst criminals.“ he told her, “Yeah Public school is full of fairy tales about this place. How it’s full of zombies and if you’re bad they send you to No Man’s Land to a secret prison. ”But it’s nothing, it’s a graveyard. We walked for almost a week and we didn’t see anything bigger than a lizard.” he threw a rock high into the air and destroyed it with a beam of heat energy; it fractured into thousands of tiny particles that rained down from the sky.
He listened to her rationale about her home schooled past and her wallflower nature, he smiled a little, he had never met anybody who was homeschooled before however it seemed some of the stereotypes were true. He nodded “I don’t think you’re dangerous. I think you’re untrained. If the government put half as much money into training us than they did with the Sentinels there would be special schools for us, like the sanctuary, there used to be hundreds of mutants.” he said stepping towards her reaching out to touch her arm and reassure her before stopping, "We'll work it out, you won't be dangerous forever.” he withdrew his hand, comforting her with a friendly smile instead.
“Follow me.” he said as he lead her down the path he had walked from, the large ceramic coffe cup lay in the centre of the road, “This is pretty cool right?” he examined the cup more closely this time kicking some dirt away from underneath it, “This really makes me crave the coffee from the capitol. I think I miss it more than my family.” he joked, he missed his parents and sister more than he would admit to anybody, he was the leader. “What do you miss from home?”

As he told her that sir was too formal she blushed slightly. She had been told to call him sir several times by some of the others. She honestly didn’t think she knew him well enough or even deserved to call this man anything but sir, though now he was telling her to call him Judah. Honestly she felt honored in some aspect. “Um.. Yes si- I mean Judah… thank you…” she would make a mental note though from now on.
Honestly hearing about the fairy tales that was public schools made her feel a little silly. She honestly never liked the idea of public schools. She hated thinking about all the people that would be there. Moving, squirming, the claustrophobic feelings of the hallways and classrooms. She never wanted to experience that was for sure. As he shot up into the air, she kept her eyes on the small stone as it blew up, shattering into hundreds of thousands of small pieces, no bigger than dust particles.
She couldn’t help but blush again. He spoke with honesty and truth in his voice. He absolutely believed what he said. But in the back of Sarah’s mind was telling her that would never happen. That she would ever have complete control over this power was nothing but a distant dream to her. It wasn’t to say she would never train or try her hardest to take most of the control. It was just that she honestly would probably never have complete control. She would most likely fall to her powers if anything. And the young woman knew this. And she already had several plans ready in case something did happen. She wouldn’t let her teammates to be harmed by her. She just wouldn’t. ”Thank you Judah… I will try my hardest.” She wouldn’t reveal that she thought his words were nothing but false hope. But in the end she hoped it wouldn’t be like that. She hoped that one day maybe she could control it.
When he spoke up again she began to follow him a few steps back. She watched as he approached a scolded large ceramic coffee cup that lay in the middle of the road. She couldn’t help but think that was ridiculous. She listened intently when he spoke of how he missed the capitals coffee. Honestly she had never been one for the caffeinated drink. But she could tell it was something he honestly loved. He must have been a big coffee boy. But his next question seemed to catch her by surprise. “…that… well… what I miss is my sister… she was really my favorite thing in this world… but now I know I won’t see her for a long time… she probably won’t ever want to see me again though after my face was splashed across the news. She probably thinks I’m some sort of monster…” again she let her bangs fall in front of her face. She hadn’t talked about her sister in a long time. And now it seemed to be dragging up a lot of missed memories and well she really didn’t need that right now.

“I know how you feel.” He said with a smile before turning away, “I’ve got a little brother, and a sister. Both younger.” He said regretfully. While he was at home he never really appreciated them, they were just annoying siblings who looked through his stuff, questioned him constantly about girlfriends and read his email yet now he was apart from them he missed their intrusive ways. He was quiet for a moment the silence was calming, he hadn’t allowed himself to stop and think about them and how they must be coping with his departure.
“What if your sister was a mutant?” he asked, it was a thought that constantly plagued his thoughts. What if his sister or brother was a mutant, what if they couldn’t control their powers and were taken to a camp or worse, executed. He scratched his neck “This whole X-Men thing. It’s bigger than us.” The more he discovered about the Mutant Camps the more he was sickened by it, the testing the abuse and the mass murders were enough to make him want to throw up, “I sometimes think I’ll never see them again, but if I give up I’ll never see either of them again, at least this way there’s a chance.” It was a slim chance but a chance none the less, Judah wouldn’t just sit back and let the injustice occur.
“She’ll want to see you, you’re still her sister.” He spoke, inflicting his views onto the situation, hoping his siblings would feel the same. “Nothing’s changed, sure we’re rebels, maybe criminals, leading a revolution against the government but we’re still just ‘us’.” He said with a dorky smile, he was wrong. All of them had changed in ways that they wouldn’t admit yet not because of their mutations. “We should get back before it gets too dark, this place gives me the creeps.”

When Sarah heard that he knew how she felt and how he too had younger siblings she couldn’t help but feel like maybe someone else did know her pain. Maybe her and Judah had more in common than they thought they did or at least more then she thought they did. After all they were both capital city kids. When they were thought to be human they were supposed to be the elite of the elite. And if Sarah had probably gone to the normal school she most likely would have been in a class with this man. It was odd to think of how close these two were all that time, and yet they are only meeting now.
“I don’t think I could even imagine that possibility. I mean she was always my little sister. Eden a mutant, well I don’t know what I would do… I mean if I ever lost her I would have gone crazy I think. Well I mean there is always a chance… but… she just can’t be a mutant, I couldn’t bare for her to have this life. Fearing every day… whether we live or die.” She gave a sigh and shook her head. This was too hard to think about. She couldn’t do it. She just wouldn’t think of it. Of her own little sister being chased, captured, threatened, and most likely either end up in the camps or worse… die. His words really hit her though. Her mind was racing. And her pulse was beating. It was true. This whole thing was bigger than them.
As soon as he said that she would still want to see her. Sarah almost wanted to cry. She walked slowly up to him. a small smile on her face. She knew he was lying. He was really terrible at it. After all she knew her teammates better than anyone else. She held them within her. After all she had absorbed them each at least once in the past. She was their big gun, and if she was needed it wasn’t something she could just say no to. And so she had learned much more then she wanted to. It was often why she could never be around her teammates. And this is why she knew now that he was lying to her. He was right, they were all different. They had all done things they wouldn’t normally be proud of. And as he spoke she kept walking towards him. And when she was in front of him she slowly brought his head down and kissed his forehead and whispered “it’ll all be alright…”she had held back her power for this, and she knew she could hold it off for that long. After all it was just a few seconds. And when she backed up she gave another smile and motioned towards their sanctuary. “So Judah… shall we go?” another smile, and then she began to walk. After all he was right; this place at night was damn well creepy.
