Recent History (Information RE: Origins of the New X Men)
It all started when Phoenix’s powers manifested, he was burning a fever he couldn’t explain sweating through his clothes. He was getting the subway home when he was stopped by a MRD (Mutant Response Division) officer, Phoenix had been identified as a Mutant by the police officers and he was to submit himself for instant relocation to a Mutant Internment Camp. He managed to narrowly evade the authorities in the underground subway system. While down there he crossed paths with the insane Mastermind who had the knowledge of how to escape the city but no firepower so to speak.
The two formed an alliance and managed to make it to the city limits where they hijacked a detainment vessel containing both Storm, Marvel Girl and Sage. They fled the scene and made for no man’s land where they would find the ‘Sanctuary’ that Mastermind promised them. Along the way they encountered Wolverine and Karma. Sanctuary was the remains of Xavier’s institute. The subbasements were still intact including the mission logs kept by Charles Xavier.
Upon discovery of the X Men’s true goals and a report about Xavier’s theory than the original Phoenix had been acting strangely. The seven runaway mutants chose to fulfil Xavier’s legacy by taking down the Sentinel Program and uniting mutant kind and humanity once and for all. Taking names of X Men and carrying on their legacy.
