The sun was high this afternoon, sweat beading down Becca's brow, making her lift her hand to wipe it away. The sting of sweat in her eye made her nearly stumble over her own feet as she wiped at her now stinging eye. Her long brown hair was stuffed in a bun and her back pack weighed heavily on her shoulders. Her legs starting to feel like jello, making her feel wobbly. Yes, she could control water, but in this wasteland there wouldn't be much water to drink. The wind that was blowing her way was dry too, sand and dirt debris stuck to her sweat soaked skin. She knew she was gonna die soon, but suddenly something loud roared to her right. This made her look around and ducking for cover under a fallen piece of concrete. It had rue bars sticking out of it, bent in most places. As she hide from the Sentinel she could hear its metallic shell getting closer to where she was hiding.
A Sentinel. out here of all places, she had never been out this far in her life, much less see a Sentinel out here. So now she understands that it's too dangerous but it was too late to turn back now. She had to keep moving, searching and away from the capital. She has always been afraid of mutants, and now that she is one changed her out look toward them. She knew now what it felt like to be one of them; always running, always hiding and scared they will never see tomorrow. She leaned back against the chunk of concrete and pulled out what water she had left and drank it. It felt as if it evaporated before hitting her parched tongue.
Soon the Sentinel left after what seemed like hours of looking. She stood up and dusted herself off but was suddenly jumped from behind, her mouth was covered so she wouldn't scream. Else it would bring back then Sentinel and they would all be in deep shit. But she stomped her foot on her captures instep and was about to run but she tripped over a rock. Falling to the ground made her scream and this attracted the Sentinel over to them again. One of the scavengers had grabbed her feet and dragged her under the concrete, his hand over her mouth as he placed a finger to his lips, gesturing for her to be quiet. She only looked at the man, eyes wide with fear again, their eyes seemed to have focused on each other. Not trusting the other to take their eyes off one another for fear the other person might do harm to the other.
After the Sentinel had gone a second time they both got up and the man did something with his lips and several over other people started to pop up. Not able the move, the man holding her firmly in place. But suddenly several MRD groups came toward them meaning the sentinel must have sent out a signal, since it can't really fit in a place too small for it to explore. So the Sentinel sent the ground troops to investigate and this made the scavengers scatter like roaches when the light is turned on. Becca ducked and ran toward the direction she was going, a few of the scavengers following her, gaining on her as she jumped rocks and crumbled roads as she ran for her life.
